"Here we were lost in a weekend in Boston..."

For those of you fellow Wheaties out there who spent many a night at Wheaton listening to Kepano Green's hit "Weekend in Boston," we had the privilege of staying with the couple who's wedding this song was written about--it's Jonathan's (my brother-in-law) brother and his wife! On to more important things...these pictures are from our trip to Boston back in April. I forgot to bring our camera (I know, heart attack!!) so these were all taken with my sister's camera. We loved the area--so very different from the scenery around suburbean Wheaton. It was wonderful to spend time with Jonathan and Marika before little Mikaila was born, too--I have a feeling we wouldn't have been able to do so much fun sight-seeing! (At least we wouldn't have had such great tour guides!)

Our first time on the Atlantic coast! I can't remember the name of this cape town...but it was very lively and colorful.

You don't see boats like this anywhere at home!

Jack was mesmerized by these two musicians playing in the street...he stood there for so long, oblivious to strangers talking to him and Mom and Dad walking away...he was so captivated by the music.

Ah, the Public Garden. I know this didn't mean anything to Jack at one year old, but hopefully someday these pictures will be special to him. I remember coming here when I was very young and being so in awe of the "real" garden where Mr. and Mrs. Mallard brough their baby ducks! (Make Way for Ducklings, anyone?)

The swan boat...and real, live ducks! Could they be distant relatives to Quack? or Jack? or Kack?

What a boring job! :)

Running through the park...so happy to be out of the car!

Springtime...

Aunt Marika in all her nine-months-pregnant glory...

Can you guess what he's staring at? More musicians! I think this guy was playing an accordian on the bridge overlooking the pond.

(I couldn't get a picture without all the kids on it...)

I don't know if Jack was afraid of the ducks or the children, but watch this progression...

Mrs. Mallard...meet Jack.

The infamous island

Brown eyes...blue eyes.

We weren't able to go to a game at Fenway, but we drove around the park a couple times.

Eric's only "touristy" shot...under the Red Sox 2004 World Series Banner.

This is a series of pictures of Jack laughing at my sister...

At the airport before we left...the lighting was so bad that the pictures turned out all blurry. But I posted them anyway...oh, what could have been!

Wouldn't this have been such a great picture of the three of us? I guess we'll just have to wait until Mikaila visits so we can get a better picture of us with our kids. Thanks, Jonathan and Marika, for having us and showing us around! We had a great time!

I am so glad someone else remembers the children's book "Make Way for Ducklings" (& have always wanted to go to Boston)!

I just checked that book out at the library for the first time for Evan! Funny.

Great, GREAT pictures! Evan had that GAP sweatshirt in two different sizes for two different winters. I imagine my Jack will wear it, too! You must be very happy with these shots and it looks like you had a great time and got some fun sight-seeing into your trip.
