Oops

Just a note: somehow my entries below got a little out of order, so the pictures that I refer to in the "Thankful for Chocolate" are the black and white ones that appeared first. :)

Jackson and Mommy

Congratulations!

I just wanted to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to our friends Rob and Rebecca Wolgemuth on the birth of their baby girl, Samantha Carol Wolgemuth. We are so excited for your family! Welcome to the world of parenthood!

Thankful for chocolate

As many of you know the past few weeks and months have been very busy for our family, and at times we have felt quite overwhelmed by all the activities and associated errands and tasks. My sister's wedding was this past weekend; it was really beautiful and (I think) everything she had wanted. I am so happy for her and Jonathan. Jack was the ring bearer--one of the flower girls carried--yes, carried--him down the aisle! It was a little scary, but quite precious, too. He was very good and didn't cry. I will post pictures when we get them back but it might be awhile!

We leave for Europe in 2 days--so I am now doing load after load of laundry and digging out all the luggage we have in order to get us ready. Actually, this past weekend was a good "trial run" for Eric and I as it was our first "trip" with a baby (we stayed in the city). It is so amazing how much coordination, organization, and communication it requires! Thank goodness for cell phones! Poor Eric got stuck doing most of it as I rode around with the bride and tried to fulfill my bridesmaid duties. He did a wonderful job--I know that packing the bags for all three of us, caring for the baby all weekend, re-packing the bags (i.e. picking up after his wife as I got ready in a flash Sunday morning and left a mess behind!), and trying to deliver flowers, candles, and other decorations to the reception hall is not exactly a man's dream weekend. :) Thank you, Eric, for being so gracious and servant-hearted for the past few weeks of craziness!

Tonight, after the baby was in bed, dinner (leftover wedding food) was eaten, and laundry was folded, Eric said, "I really feel like some chocolate." Mmmm. Sounded so good, but after a quick inventory of our pantry and freezer, we discovered we had nothing to satisy our chocolate-longing. So I jumped in the car, drove the 1 mile to Oberweiss, and got some milkshakes. I don't know if it is just because I have been on the go for so long and haven't been able to relax, or if the shakes are just that good--but OH! I don't think I have enjoyed myself that much in awhile! I literally felt thankful that chocolate exists. :) It was so nice to sit and just enjoy a good treat, without feeling an urgency to be working on some wedding project. I realize that this time tomorrow night I could very well be in that place again with the packing and preparations. But tonight it finally felt like summer--cooling off with a cold, sweet treat. Thank you, God, for little pleasures in life, like chocolate shakes! :)

The pictures below were taken by a friend from high school who is now a professional photographer. I am SO impressed with these pictures, mainly because Jack was fussing the whole time and I didn't think there would be any pictures of him in which he wasn't crying! I can't believe how great they turned out. I hope you enjoy them!

This will probably be our last post for awhile...look for pictures of Prague, Vienna, Rome, Paris, and Jack to arrive on our post around the end of August! Enjoy the end of your summer--visit Oberweiss for a chocolate treat!!
