loved his ice cream and cake! I had finished his ball cake that morning but he hadn't seen it yet; at some point before the party when I opened the fridge he saw it in there and screamed excitedly, "Oh!! BALL!!!!" Birthday cake decorating has become a love of mine because my mom made the BEST cakes when I was little, so it's something I hope I've inherited from her. One of my favorites was the Barbie Doll cake, where she stuck a new Barbie in the middle of a cake and the built a cake-dress around the doll...it was amazing. I also love any excuse to make cake, so the hobby suits me. I'm looking forward to Ellie's first birthday coming next month...I still haven't decided yet what to do for hers, but I'm having fun thinking about it!

I made the Barbie cake a couple years ago for Halle's birthday (with help from cake guru, Brandy), and it turned out really well. I like to do fun birthday cakes, too, also because my mom did my birthday cakes, but none of mine turn out nearly as cute as yours!
WHOA. Slow down, Martha Stewart! These are unreal... SO great! You have to teach me how to bake!!
